Since it is World Water Day the assignment topic is Water.
Write 1000 words on any of the following:
* A water adventure.
* Water - the new liquid gold
* Water disasters (drownings, tsunamis, floods, cyclones, contamination, droughts)
* Imagine yourself as a drop of water and describe your journey.
* May the rain wash away your worries.

ReplyDeleteEach person received a different opener and added a paragraph before passing it on to the next person e.g. "I suddenly realized I was trapped. I couldn't seee any way out". The resulting cumulative end products were interesting to say the least.

Mike R wrote a wonderful visually literate piece on his experience with mosquitoes during a river canoe trip observing bald eagles, ospreys, and the beauty of swallows' arcing flight chasing mosquitoes. We shared his agony from the needle-like proboscises that caused swelling in toxic bumps. We discovered that the carniverous devils could turn into herbiverous angels.
Margaret described the first day of Spring and the gentle melting and joining of the waters. Rivers all moving to the sea giving new life to all that surrounds us. The bear asked the humming birds, "What are you doing?" to which they replied , "Doing what I can". If we all do what we can we will go from a cup to a jug to a bucket to a tsunami of water.
Mike W's "Waterful Life" told of his personal life experiences in the water realm from his first encounter in the galvanized bath in the kitchen to a lifetime of active water sports pursuits that included swimming, sailing, scuba diving, ice hockey and skiing. His present focus is judging the amount of H2O to put in his scotch.
Heather wrote two marvellous poems,the first one on waterfalls with a running alliteration on the theme of water and the second entitled "Lake Life" that encompassed many of the values of family life at the lake. Beautifully done.
Sue shared with us a draft of an excerpt from a future novel entitled "Sienna Justice" and welcomed a critique on the form and substance of the story. Several suggestions gave Sue food for thought to take back to the drawing board.
Don fantasized about a scenario occuring in the year 2020 based on present disasterous events of earthquakes, tsunamis and radiation from nuclear power plants. The bottom line being we can survive without oil, gold and precious minerals but without the life-giving sustenance of water we will be doomed.
