I would enjoy hearing everyone's thoughts and insights; what you liked, what we can bring to the group, what you will be working on. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful thing my friends.
I think that my favorite part of the workshop was watching everyone's faces as they came down from their meeting with Luanne. I would've liked to be a fly on the wall in the boardroom.
Wouldn't it be nice if Kimberley became known as a cultural centre with an unusually large number of successful artists/writers/musicians/actors etc living and working here? There is certainly the talent. (I think Mike and others have been working on that vision for awhile.) I'd love to see a bunch of published authors from our group.
As far as our writing group - my thought at the moment is that we could continue as is for those who are happy with that, but for those who want a more critical group, we could have an off-shoot, closed group (we could meet at a coffee shop or someone's house) that would focus more on critiquing and editing personal projects.
I'm looking forward to more discussion about this.
I just want to write, write, write . The workshop was wonderful & certainly increased my need to write. Susan ,I love your vision & it will happen. I agree we should still meet & at least try an offshoot of a more critical group. My sense is that there are some that really want/need this. Would love to be counted in for that focus. Nicole ,I also feel it a beginning of a beautiful thing. Write On Hugs & Stay Warm
It was a gift to help plan and participate, thanks to all who helped and registered. I appreciated her down to earth style, sense of humour, honesty, candour and wisdom without any pretentiousness! On Luanne's suggestion, I have decided to set the goal of writing a 'chap' book of poetry with the hopes of a professional edit and eventually self-publish?! I think we should run with the suggestion of a closed critique group as well. Loved her comment about writing something through until the end without stopping to edit and that inspiration is a good starter of projects but we need to show up a the page regularly to finish it. Look out Fernie's Writer's Conference...Kimberley's is-a comin'! (I hope)
