Wrap Up Party

Our busy writing season has come to an end. There are so many members that will be too busy to commit to summer meetings that we've decided to take a little break.

This is not to discourage action on the blog or email, or of course hinder anyone from meeting over the summer. Only the official Centre 64 meetings will not be a go.

Christine has been kind enough to offer her beautiful space for our wind up party.

Date: Monday June 21
Time: 7PM
Place: Natural Attraction (The hemp clothing store behind the cuckoo clock in the platzl)
Please Bring: A friend or two if you'd like, a bottle of wine or two, some sort of hors dourves, and of course a piece of writing to be shared amongst all joiners (details to be announced by Don who will be the facilitator at this last reading).

It will be spring solstice and if weather cooperates the evening sun should be hitting the deck perfectly. Looking forward to seeing everyone that participated in the group - whether you were there one time or every time you we hope to see you!

  1. Since Monday 21st is summer solstice the writing assignment will be to describe how you are affected by the change of seasons.
Look forward to seeing you at the wrap up party.
    Cheers
    Don

  4. My posts aren't getting though. What happened to the party? I was there well before 7 PM, and there wasn't any sign of life even at 7 PM! Was it cancelled? If so, where was the message posted? At any rate, I couldn't hold onto my stuff anymore (large Grubstake extra cheese, homemade wine, camera and assignment. So I went home with my wine, pizza and whine. The meetings are nearly always late starting, too. I saw two people leave because they got tired of waiting outside, waiting for someone with keys. Why not say the meetings start at 7:15 if that's when they can actually start, logistically speaking? Or else ask for volunteers to open up and set up chairs, etc. No one is going to be happy at workshops that don't start on time, either. People's time is limited these days--esp. those still toiling for a living at 1-2 jobs (not me anymore).

  5. I was there at 7pm also but didn't see you there. It's true that we did wait for 10 minutes for the door to be opened but we set up the chairs and tables while we waited. I do agree with you that meetings should start on time otherwise the expectation to arrive early or on time is lost.

Thank you Christine for being a gracious host for the meeting.

Those who arrived and stayed were Christine, Chris, Susan, David, Margaret, Nola and Don who all enjoyed some delectable appies and wine and delightful conversation. The assigned writing was "How are you affected by the change of seasons?" Susan, Margaret and Nola wrote thoughtful and perceptive poetic pieces about seasonal change and Don wondered how the seasons would unfold for his three year old grandson Moss and the financial impact of living in a four season environment.

It was decided to forgo the August reading session and re-group again in September with meetings to start at precisely 7pm. Susan distributed information about the summmer workshop which is reproduced on this blog.
